Nearing the end of my first semester at the University of Illinois, I have found out why sleep is important and why one bad night can lead to a bad week. One week in particular stands out. That week, I was up until 3 a.m. on a Tuesday finishing Physics homework, hoping to finish it early so I could relax for the remaining days of the week. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the assignment and needed help, so I did go to bed at 3:30 a.m. Heavy-eyed, I slept the minute my head hit the pillow. Rushing, I had to piece together some notes, papers, and homework for the day and bolted for the afternoon lectures.
